Cavite with an area of 1,287.6 square kilometers is the smallest province in the CALABARZON region. Only 30 kilometers south of Manila, it lies at the crest of a diverse community southwest of Manila Bay across the Bataan Peninsula, extending eastward along the shoreline up to the historic Zapote Bridge.
This province’s name was derived from the Tagalog word kawit, which means “hook,” and it prides itself for its culture and history. Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo declared the independence of the Philippines from Spain in a ceremony was also located here during the American period.
Its people’s openness to the entry and exchange of culture and technology became the key to the development of this wondrous province, which is composed of three cities and 20 municipalities. Ternate, which is part of Cavite’s pride, has its share of history.
